Common Microneedling Questions We Receive
What is microneedling?
Micro-needling is a skin therapy that comfortably treats burns, scars, wrinkles, discoloration, induces collagen production, and rejuvenates the skin by causing controlled mechanical micro-injuries in a small portion of the skin leaving surrounding dermis intact. this allows for a deep, thorough treatment, but without serious downtime.
Is there downtime involved following a micro-needling treatment?
Generally no, but you may experience facial redness like a moderate to severe sunburn for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Patients can apply mineral make up as a breathable camouflage to cover any redness in about 24 hours.
Does a microneedling treatment hurt?
Our micro-needling treatment protocol is designed to be a relatively comfortable procedure. Because we take the extra time to use a topical anesthetic, we are able to provide a more effective treatment with little, if any discomfort. The sensation feels similar to receiving a heavy microdermabrasion treatment. Some people have commented they feel nothing but a mild vibration.
How quickly are results visible?
Rejuvenated skin can generally be seen 6-8 days following procedure, with continued results over time. A course of at least 3 micro-needling sessions is usually recommended to achieve optimal results; however, improvement is usually noticeable after just one treatment.
Is micro needling safe?
The procedure is minimally invasive, which means that there is little downtime and the healing process is quick. Aftercare is also very simple and can be fully administered at home.
Are there any side effects or risks associated with skin needling?
Side effects experienced with micro-needling will usually subside within 48 hours. They include erythema, stinging, itching and tightness of the skin.
How are the needle tips sterilized?
To ensure safety we use only the most advanced sterilization procedures and packaging materials. These give 3 to 5 years of guaranteed sterility from date of manufacture.
